Tech Editing Checklist
- Make sure that all materials are included in the materials list, including needle size, type, and length
- Check that stitch counts are correct after each increase and decrease, and that shaping fits into available rows
- Check that stitch and row gauges are included, and make sense for the yarn weight, stitch pattern, and needle size
- Check that stitch pattern multiples fit into given stitch counts
- Check that sizes are evenly graded, and conform to common sizing standards
- Check for consistency of abbreviations, capitalization, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and phrasing
- Check that all abbreviations are defined and defined correctly, and that all abbreviations are used
- Check that photos, charts, and schematics match written directions
- Check that pattern is laid out in logical steps and all steps are included
- Check that pattern conforms to style sheet and/or typical pattern standards
- Check that chart begins and ends in the correct number of sts for the repeat, and that all stitch patterns fit into the stitch counts
- Check that written directions match charts by request only
- Check that all hyperlinks work and that tutorials match the pattern description
- Check that all measurements are correct according to stitch/row counts and gauge
- Check header and footer for pattern title, page numbers, and copyright
