Revamp Knit-along

What is a knit-along you ask? I was actually surprised when some of my non-knitting friends asked me that and I answered them by saying “It’s like a sing-along but with needles and yarn.” Maybe that’s not the most descriptive answer, but they seemed to understand. A knit-along happens when a group of knitters get together online or in person to knit the same thing in a set time period. For the Revamp Knit-along we all got together online to knit different things. We started with a pattern by La Maison Rililie but each knitter added their own twist to it (that’s the revamp part) so that no one knit the same thing. Here is a link to the projects tagged #revampkal on Ravelry. (You have to be a Ravelry member to view this page, but why wouldn’t you be?)

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESMy project was the lovely Dessine Moi un Mouton pullover converted into a cardigan. I also changed the width of the stripes, added some ease in the sleeves, and narrowed the neckline a bit with a curved neckband to match the curved cuff detail. I had thought about binding off each button hole in a different color, but I wasn’t quite sure how to do it until Rililie recommended swatching. Of course! A swatch is the answer to so many knitting questions.

I am pleased with my finished cardigan and flattered by all the kind compliments I received from the group. I even won a prize! A special little skein of Shibui StaccatoSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES sent all the way from Vienna by the designer herself.

Everyone had such fun in the kal that we’ve decided to do it again in March. Check in at the La Maison Rililie group to see when it starts!
