The Beach Collection

WakeWake is the first pattern in The Beach Collection and is also available in the e-book Knitting the Beach. I had so much fun designing and then knitting these patterns, I can’t wait to see them in different yarns and colors! I’ll be releasing one pattern a month until all six are published.

Wake is the design for August. I made it with 1 skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, 100% Superwash Wool 420 yds/384 m per 3.5 oz/100 g, color Dr. Zhivago’s Sky. It comes in 3 sizes Small (Medium, Large) 68 (82, 96) inches/155 (205, 240) cm wide and 16 (20, 23) inches/40 (50, 58) cm deep, and you can further adjust the sizes by changing your gauge and/or yarn. Current

The second Design is Current. It’s another crescent-shaped shawl in an undulating lace pattern. I used 2 skeins of Araucania Huasco, 100% Merino Wool 454 yds/416 m per 3.5 oz/100 g, to make a medium sized shawl, but 1 skein will make a respectable size as well, and the crescent shape means it will stay on your shoulders! This one will be available in September.

Tide will be released in October. It is a triangle shaped shawl knit from side to side in a simple lace pattern that doesn’t interfere with a busy variegated yarn. I chose Malabrigo Sock, 100% Superwash Merino Wool 440 yds/402 m 3.5 oz/100g, colorway Caribeño for this design because of its softness and beautiful hand-dyed variations. 1 skein will make a small size, (70 inches/175 cm wide and 17 inches/42.5 cm deep), with the larger sizes requiring 2 skeins.

When you purchase the e-book you will receive an update as each new pattern is released. The price starts at $10 and will increase to $20 USD when all the patterns are available. You can purchase the e-book here: buy now. The patterns will also be available individually for $6 each in my Ravelry store.

I hope you all enjoy my birthday present! I’ve had a busy morning so I am going to relax with my needles and a delectable skein of Manos Del Uruguay Fino that I picked up at the Yarn Nook in Lafayette yesterday. The color is Watered Silk and I think it will be perfect for the last pattern in the collection. Happy knitting!
