What’s New?

I am having a busy, fun summer, and I hope you are too! To start with, I made the 2 day trip back to Wisconsin from Louisiana in May, and I’ll be making a second round trip to pack up and move out of the swamp for good next week. Escaping the harsh Wisconsin winters in Louisiana was fun, and I will absolutely miss my friends there, (I love y’all Red River Stitchers!) but I honestly missed having a real winter. I can’t think of anything more inspiring to a knitter than the freezing cold! I’m looking forward to a flood of inspiration when the weather turns in the fall, and I am already dreaming of all the warm sweaters I will knit and wear.

Wisconsin in the Fall is beautiful!

Wisconsin in the Fall is beautiful!

At the beginning of the year I was swamped in gorgeous yarn and working on several secret designs for Interweave magazines. The Georgia Cardigan was released last month in Knitscene Fall and the others will soon follow. You can look for my designs in Knits Fall (The 20th Anniversary Issue!), Knit.Wear Fall/ Winter, and Knitscene Winter. I am especially excited about the design in the Fall Issue of Interweave Knits. The editor, Meghan Babin, shared this photo of it on Instagram.

The sample was made with the most delectable, soft, wonderful Merino from Woolfolk Yarn. The design is a bit different from the usual fitted cardigans I most often design and wear, and I love it! This is the kind of sweater you can wrap up in like a warm hug, perfect for those cold Wisconsin winters I’ve been dreaming of.

I am working on my self-published designs too. The next one will be The Primrose Path Cowl; a quick little lace cowl that makes a great stash buster with only one skein of worsted weight yarn. I used Araucania Mana, a hand-dyed pure silk yarn in a sunny yellow color named Golden. I had a few test knitters volunteer before I even made up my mind to publish the pattern, so this one is almost ready. If you would like to receive a discount coupon when the pattern is released, sign up to my mailing list here.

The Primrose Path Cowl, coming soon!

I have a few more patterns that only need to be test knitted and tech edited before they are finished, and I am still working on a follow-up eBook to Knitting the Beach, (this time my inspiration is Stormy Weather) it just seems to be taking a little longer than I had planned. I also just started the Kephren Knitting Studio Ravelry Group! I think it will give us a nice place to chat, ask questions, and coordinate test knits and knit-alongs. I hope to see you all there!

Thank you for knitting!
