Shhh… It’s a Secret

For the last six months I’ve been working on the patterns for the Knitting the Beach eBook, and now it’s almost finished. The last pattern, Surf, will be released next week (with a little surprise) and then I’ll be quiet for a while. It’s not that I don’t have tons of ideas and patterns in the works, it’s just that I’ll be busy with secret projects for the next few months. It takes a few months to produce a high quality knitting pattern in print, so you won’t see the what I’m working on until next fall, but I can show you the yarn now!SAM_0454

This is Mango Moon Capra, a lace weight mohair blended with silk to add strength and stability to the  fuzz. In case you were wondering, no, mohair is not the hair from a mo. Mohair comes from Angora goats, as opposed to Angora rabbits, which produce Angora. Even though it’s a lace weight yarn, the mohair fuzz fills up any open space in between the stitches, allowing it to be knit at a looser than normal gauge for a light as air fabric. You’ll see my design in this yarn in the Fall 2016 Issue of Knitscene.

Mango Moon is a company based in Michigan that sells yarn, kits, and notions with the purpose of doing good while having fun, by providing employment for Artisans in Nepal and Indonesia. They sell their own line of yarn and notions as well as several others, like the Dale Garn Heilo I used for my Keeley Sweater design in Knits Winter 2016.

I hope you all have wonderful holidays while I am swamped in gorgeous yarn, knitting my fingers to the bone. I really can’t think of a better way to spend my time!

Thank you for knitting!
