Last year on my birthday I released the Wake shawl for free and opened pre-orders for the eBook Knitting the Beach. I had plans to do something similar this year, but time got away from me and my next shawl collection isn’t ready yet. (It’s coming soon though! Sign up to my mailing list so you won’t miss it.) I thought I would do a little sale instead, and since it’s my 39th birthday, all of my single, self-published patterns will be 39% off! The discount will automatically be applied when you add them to your cart. The sale ends Friday, August 19th, (my birthday) at midnight Central time.
For my birthday present to myself, I’ve decided to do a 365 day self-portrait photo project. A few years ago I took Amy Herzog’s Knit to Flatter Craftsy class, and she talked about how doing a 365 day self-portrait project changed the way she saw herself. At the time, I was intrigued by the idea, but it wasn’t the right time and place in my life until now. I’ve been having issues with body image over the last few years, and I think this project will help me to see myself more clearly. I won’t be posting photos these photos all over the internet, but I have started a flickr album dedicated to the project if you’re curious. Be sure to follow me there if you want to see my progress though the year.
Happy birthday, and thank you for knitting!
