We’re All Mad Here

Hooray hooray the end of May! It has been a mad month, and I’ve been busy not only with my return to Wisconsin, but with lots of knitting projects too.

Mad May is a month-long celebration of lovely madelinetosh yarn in the madelinetosh lovers group on Ravelry. The group sponsors several knit-a-longs, including an original design contest, which I’m participating in this year. For this shawl I was inspired by gorgeous pictures of lightning I found on Pinterest, and the deep, dark purple of the colorway Duchess.

I had a been thinking about this design for a couple of months, but hadn’t decided on the pattern. A deadline was exactly what I needed to make up my mind!

After a few false starts, I settled on an asymmetrical triangle shape and a zigzag lace pattern.

This is the first shawl of a collection I’m planning to release later this summer. I had such fun with Knitting The Beach last year that I decided to do it again this year. My theme for this collection is stormy weather, and I have some beautiful yarns picked out that fit that theme. If you subscribe to my mailing list you’ll receive news about the collection and a discount coupon when it’s released.

I also had a new pattern released this month. My Leaf-Lace Shrug was included in Issue 8 of Noro Knitting Magazine. This is my version of the shrug Noro Aya. You can see the magazine’s version on the pattern page here.

The Red River Wrap was released in April, but the end of the 100 Days of Making was in May, so I set up a little promotion to celebrate. I’m giving away 100 copies of the pattern free! Go to the Ravelry pattern page for the Red River Wrap, click on “buy it now” and enter 100DAYS in the coupon code field. If you are one of the first 100 you’ll see the price change to $0 before you check out. Adding the pattern to your favorites or your queue while your there would be much appreciated!

Thank you for knitting!
